diablo 10-08-2010

well i really want to work on diablos recall to the glove i flew him thursday after his fill on the bunny from wed. he was at 1.6 or 22oz and his recall to the glove is one of the worse ive ever had.but i wanted to make sure his weight was not to low so i took him to a field and he refused to come down to the glove but chased a few half ass flights at bunnys but no catch and he finnaly came down to the glove after he relized i was not going to kick up anymore rabbits so he got put up with only a single tidbit.i weighted him today he was 1.5.3 or 21.3 oz and i want to get him down slow to the weight of 1.4 to 1.4.5 so i figured i would just fly him in the front yard for a .5 oz of tidbits and also work on his recall from the trees.so i put him upin a tree and right under it was a tree rat which i wanted to see what he would do with it well he didnt even look at it as it walked into the empty back yard of the house next door so i walked back there now this house as been empty for 3 months and no one has cut the grass so its like a small hay field i follow the squirrel and as i come around the corner i catch just a glimps of brown hunkered down i back up and peak again and i ask my self is that a rabbit so i peak again sure enough it is.so i hurry up and think to my self get diablo on the glove and fly him at it i look up and diablo is in a perfect tree right above the rabbit and of course i tell my self who am i kiddin he wont come down anyways to the glove so i sneak around the bunny to force it out in the opening it works great except diablo didnt see it lol.it runs under a wood pile which now diablo is lookin at so i jump on it and bang out comes the rabbit straight at him he flys straight out past it does a quick wing over and comes in behind it and grabs it by the ass just as the rabbit hit the fence.i run over there and half the rabbit is through the fence and the other on this side diablo had both feet threw the fence and had the bunny by the ass i quickly subdue the rabbit and work the rabbit back to our side of the fence and diablo was again allowed to get his fill

well ive not been keeping a very updated log as its not been a very easy road trip with diablo.im not to sure about a good weight for him he hates to come to the glove and ive had his weight down to 1.4.5 or 20.5 oz and he comes to the glove but only at his will.but he follows really well and chases at 1.5.5 or 21.5oz he managed to put 4 bunnies in the bag so far this season.the first 1 was out of a tree and on a bunnie i never seen young and dumb and he was allowed his fill second bunny was a great flight off the glove and the bunny only made it 15ft and he had that one wrapped up.then he went on a draught for a few weeks with not catching anything or weather not permitting us to fly up until wednesday the 6th of oct 2010 and we went to a filed of my dads i try not to hunt thhis field due to he really likes it so me and my father and my way better lookin half went to it and my better half kicked up way more rabbits then me and my father he got 8 or 9 good flights but cover was really thick he weighed in at 1.5.5 or 21.5oz we moved to the back of the field and were on our way back to the truck when i kicked up a bunny while diablo was on the glove he gave chase but came up empty and flew about 100 yards to the closest tree and landed.i went in through the thick stuff while christina and my dad went through the lighter brush my dad some how walked right past it and was already 20 ft in front of it when christina came up the same path and jumped a very nice sized adult rabbit which took off like grease lighting away from us.well shortly after it ran diablo seen it and pumped down after it i seen the whole pumping but cover was way to think to see the whole flight shortly after i seen him go down i heard the sweet sound all us falconers love to hear.i took off running to the sound and took out a few small trees as i ran to him i rush in to find diablo had a firm grip on the hip and ass of the bunny i quickly kill it and let him have his fill.

well ive been lacking on the posts but ive still been flying diablo but cover here is thick and hes not getting many ops but he trys everything that moves and to be onest i fing hate it he sees a grasshopper mouse rat frog he thinks he has to go after it.i would normally just let my birds catch them then steal them from them and make them a bad thing and then get them on a rabbit but he already acts as if hes had every single kill hes ever made stolen so im trying to get him some more rabbits kills hes made two but not to much to mention and i was by my self no pics. man i cant wait for some frost

well ive not been posting up as much as i would like but due to issues ive never had with any hawk and ive trained well over 20 plus its been a rough go this has been the only bird that at the same weight twice in a row act totally diffirent for most of his trainning hes been at 22oz but he only comes to the glove when he feels like it never hadd this from any hawk normally once they start coming to the glove before i get turned around at a weight that is the weight at which they come it seems with him he comes at the weight really good one day and not the next hes been at 21.7 and flew really good coming b4 i can get to the distance i wanted to call him too.took him out the other day at this weight and he would not follow and he took his sweet time coming down but did very good when he seen a rabbit. im going to try to get him down to 21 or 20.5 by sunday he was 23 today when i weighed him.and he refuses to eat off the lure while the lure is on the ground but if i show him that the lure has chicks on it and have the lure on the glove he will come to the glove and eat his chicks off the lure but will stop eatting and try to get away from the lure if i lay the lure on the ground so we will have to see if we can work that out

well today was not a good day for me or diablo as his weight was down like i had hoped but his response did not get better at the increased distance of 10ft at 5ft and closer he was quick as he could be but increase and he started his i forgot what im suposed to do rutine so i pulled the i forgot to feed him rutine today.i did hold him on the glove and watched tv with him for a bit he still hates dogs and cats and he is still quite on the glove and in the mew but has started talking more on the bow in the yard. he weighed 1.6.7 today so he will be around 1.5 or 1.5.5 tomorrow

well i wanted to mix things up for diablo i dont like feeding them at the same time everyday dew to they start to respond to rutine verse's hunger so i weighed him up at around 11.30am my time and he weighed in at 1.7 again so i put him out on a bow for a hour or so then i went out and figured i would go ahead and jump him to the glove well he was still slower then i like but he manage to jump to the glove the end of the leash for all the one and half onces of food and he got quicker at each jump but still likes to look around to much for me. once he starts jump on the creance more then ten feet ill be packing him up in the GH and go to a near by field to train the rest of the way. but at this point i do all my trainin in my front yard with lots of kids and cars driving by ive even been know to do all my training in the front yard right up til i fly them free ill see how it goes.he is also starting to talk more and more already lucky me lol
